What is cybersecurity?

Maybe you've heard about cybersecurity but do you know what is cybersecurity, in this article we will talk about cybersecurity in more details.

Cybersecurity involves the practice of protecting digital systems in a wide range of technologies including networks, devices, programs, and data, the role of cybersecurity is to protect all these digital systems with more confidentiality.

What is the economical responsibility of cybersecurity?

It is a safe guardian for significant financial losses and both direct and indirect costs steaming from cyber attacks.

Direct costs involve expanses after an attack like data and system recovery after an attack.

Indirect costs are a less tangible costs include the customer trust and reputational damage.

Medical responsibility of cybersecurity:

Cybersecurity in the medical field, this goes beyond data protection it impacts patient safety and effective care which means that cybersecurity centers on the confidentiality and availability of the patient in the healthcare system.

Social responsibility of cybersecurity:

The social responsibility of cybersecurity includes more obligations of individuals, governments, organizations, it extends beyond individual entities and it goes beyond self preservation, and protective measures to protect all digital environments for everyone.

The educational responsibility of cybersecurity:

This refers to the need of education for individuals from young students to professionals, that includes online risks, digital practices which involves the importance of protecting digital sources, including schools, universities, educators, and maybe government departments.

The social media responsibility of cybersecurity:

The social media responsibility of cybersecurity involves the ethical obligation of individuals, organizations, and social media platforms.

This responsibility aims to protect the vast amount of personal data shared on these platforms that can have far reaching societal.

Practicing good digital hygiene, that includes privacy of settings, exercising carefulness when sharing personal information, as for organizations this includes their social media presence to protect brand reputation, training employees, customer data, for best practices.

As for social media platforms includes designing and maintaining and securing platforms from malicious content and provides users with the information to protect themselves.

The media responsibility of cybersecurity:

What we mean here not the social media but the media itself and television and satellite channels, this responsibility for cybersecurity influencing both public awareness and education, television has a wide reach and can play a serious role in education and general public which includes threats and best practices by involving and explaining some concepts in an accessible way, individuals can protect themselves online like strong passwords, fishing recognition, secure browsing habits by rising public awareness, TV role by helping more cyber resilient society, reporting on incidents and trends, TV media has a responsibility to report accurately, this includes explaining the nature of the attack and the impact by highlighting trends in cyber crime.

The military's responsibility of cybersecurity:

It is crucial for national security operational effectiveness and protecting infrastructure, it is also to secure and defend networks, information and systems operational technologies from cyber attacks, all this come under the term military.

Protecting classified information and critical systems, it is the responsibility of the military safe guard for sensitive data classified information, intelligence, sabotage, and the theft by state and non state, this also includes weapons platforms, communication networks and other infrastructure of the military.

Collaboration and information sharing: Usually military often collaborates with civilian government agencies and international partners also the private sectors to ensure overall cybersecurity.

The police responsibility of cybersecurity:

It is crucial for maintaining public safety and order in the digital age investigating in crime scenes, it is used in a wide range including hacking, ransomware attacks, online fraud, identity theft, and child exploitation.

Protecting digital evidence, police must insure the integrity of the evidence from unauthorized access or loss.

Preventing cyber crime and raising awareness, police have a protective role in preventing cybercrime including the public by educating common cyber threats also promoting safe online behavior.

Securing their own system that holds vast amount of sensitive data like criminal records and personal information of citizens.

Technical responsibility of cybersecurity:

It lies of protecting digital assets and systems, implementing and maintaining security controls, it involves various security technologies such as fire walls, IDPS antivirus, it also involves regularly patching and updating software and hardware.

Threat monitoring, it means continuously monitoring networks and systems for untrusted activity and potential cyber attacks.

Incident responses and recovery, technical teams are responsible for containing the breach, and restoring effected systems and data.

Cyber cryptography means protecting sensitive data at rest and transit ensuring data and encryption keys.

The gaming industry:

It also needs cybersecurity to give a high value in gaming asset, often sensitive and personal have financial data carriers a significant cybersecurity responsibility, it extends more than simply preventing cheats and safe guarding the entire digital echo system players, this includes protecting players data and accounts in gaming companies and also includes personal information payment details and gaming habits insuring game integrity and fair play.

Cybersecurity is essential to combat cheating, hacking, and in game exploits, this can disrupt in game economies and discourage engagement.

Educating players on cybersecurity, it is best practiced in companies responsible for their system, they also have a role in empowering.

Artificial Intelligence (AI):

It's a term that refers to a technology of development that involves computer systems and machines and these machines can perform tasks typically that are associated with human intelligence such as learning, reasoning, problem solving, decision making, understanding and generating human language even creativity.

IA aims to enable machines to identify patterns, analyze data, predictions, here are some of these technologies:

  1. Google cloud: A set of technologies that enables computers to perform a variety of functions like the ability to see, translate spoken and written data, analyze data...etc.
  2. IBM: IBM is the technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human learning, problem solving, decision making, creativity, understand and respond to human language.

The bitcoin:

The bitcoin is a term referring to digital currency that operates without a financial institution and it is a well known cryptocurrency to enable secure and peer to peer, built on blockchain technology the aim of the bitcoin is to underline technology like blockchain which means distributed public ledger that records all bitcoin transactions in a transparent and immutable way.

The official bitcoin organization website defines the bitcoin as peer to peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks, it also explains that through many of many unique properties, bitcoins allow existing that could not be covered by any previous payment system.
